  • about zoe

Zoe became a lawyer in 1999 after working on the Auditorium Theatre Council v. Roosevelt University case, the BP-Amoco merger and clerking at the law firm of Robbins, Salomon & Patt, Ltd. where she worked for every attorney in the thirty-man firm.  In 2000 Zoe partnered up with her law school buddy, John D. Klise, forming Klise & Biel Ltd., where they worked as a team servicing clients in real estate matters and civil litigation until the spring of 2012.  Since 2012 Zoe has been in solo practice handling evictions, landlord-tenant matters, condominium association matters, real estate transactions, civil litigation, civil appellate cases, mortgage foreclosure cases, business formation, condominium development and more.
Zoe practices in the Cook, DuPage, and Lake County areas as well as occasionally in Kane, Will and other counties.  In addition to litigation matters Zoe assists clients in the purchase and sale of homes and other types of property in many of the Chicagoland suburbs as well as in the City of Chicago.
Zoe attended John Marshall Law School from 1994 through 1997; while there she served as an ambassador for the school giving prospective students individualized tours and answering their questions about the school, classes and law school in general and served on the Moot Court Board as well as participating in the 2007 ABA Moot Court Competition in New Orleans.
Zoe has been mentoring John Marshall Law School students since 2000, advising them on what classes to take, assisting them with their writing skills, running mock arguments, running direct and cross examinations with them; many of these students have worked for her and have gone on to become successful lawyers in the Chicagoland legal community and elsewhere.  Zoe regularly participates in the Dean Fred Herzog Competition and the John Marshall International Moot Court Competition in Information Technology and Privacy.   Zoe even coached a team from India for the 2008 Privacy Competition as well as performing as a judge and brief grader.  Zoe previously served on the Board of a charity, the Fairygodmother Foundation, for five years, which granted wishes to terminally ill patients through generous donations from the public at large. Zoe currently sits on various committees with the Chicago Council of Lawyers, volunteers in her neighborhood Valley View Community Association.
Zoe is married and lives in a western suburb of Chicago.  Zoe's hobbies include hiking, cooking, photography, skiing, scuba diving, snorkeling, travel, gardening, DIY projects around her house, reading -- fiction, historical fiction, historical non-fiction, and learning how to make a website.
